Lobster Bake Fundraiser - Dinner with the Team




ORONO, Maine-- The Friends of Maine Hockey and the Union River Lobster Pot are sponsoring a Lobster Bake Fundraiser. The event will be held on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007, at the Union River Lobster Pot in Ellsworth.
The event will start at 1 p.m. with a social hour and cash bar. Dinner will be served around 2 p.m. Enjoy lobster, clams and mussels with cole slaw, potato salad, corn on the cob and rolls. Dessert will be berry crisp with vanilla ice cream. Barbecue ribs are available for those who do not wish to eat lobster. The cost of the event is $55 per person.
Show your support of the University of Maine Men's Ice Hockey team by donning a bib, dipping in butter and doing dinner with the team. Just 80 reservations will be accepted on a first come/first serve basis. Call Betty Donovan at 942-8252 or Anne Britt at 667-5989 with questions. The deadline for reservations is Saturday, Sept. 21.
From Bangor, follow Route 1A to Ellsworth for about 26 miles. Just past the YMCA take the right fork onto State Street. At the first traffic light, turn right onto Main Street. Go over the bridge and take an immediate left onto South Street. It is behind Rooster Brother at 8 South Street.

AVS sign Laperriere to one-year extension

Denver, CO - The Colorado Avalanche signed forward Ian Laperriere to a one-year contract extension through the 2008-2009 season on Thursday.
Laperriere scored eight goals and recorded 29 points in 81 games last season for the Avs. The feisty winger led all Colorado forwards in hits with 85 and his 17 fighting majors was second-most in the NHL.
In two seasons with the Avalanche, the 33-year-old has scored 29 goals, contributed 74 points and amassed 249 penalty minutes -- including a career- high 21 goals and 45 points in 2005-2006.
A 12-year NHL veteran, Laperriere has recorded 107 goals, 278 points and 1.491 penalty minutes in 857 games with St. Louis, the New York Rangers, Los Angeles and Colorado.

Hughes Returns to Guide Ice Bats


The Austin Ice Bats of the Central Hockey League today announced a change on the bench, with Brent Hughes returning to the team as Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations.
